The
Story
Behind.
Hi — I’m Charaf, the founder, artisan, and creative behind Charaf Designs. A blogger and maker passionate about bridging tradition and modern art through handcrafted Moroccan décor.
I didn’t start this
as a “brand.”
I started it surrounded by textures, colors, and stories — in the heart of Morocco, where craftsmanship isn’t just work. It’s heritage.
From a young age, I was drawn to handmade pieces — the kind that carry history. Rugs woven thread by thread. Tiles shaped by hand. Furniture that takes days — sometimes weeks — to create.
Over time, what started as curiosity became a deep passion for preserving and sharing Moroccan craftsmanship with the world.
“Culture is alive, not stuck in a museum.”
— Charaf, Founder of Charaf DesignsThree things I
never compromise.
Every decision — from choosing raw materials to packaging a shipment — is guided by these three beliefs. They’re not marketing. They’re the rules I’ve always followed.
Every piece is made using genuine Moroccan techniques — no shortcuts, no machines mimicking handwork. If it can’t be made the traditional way, it doesn’t leave my atelier.
Quality is my top priority — always has been. I’d rather make fewer pieces and have each one be something worth passing down than rush a collection to market.
Moroccan craft shouldn’t live in a museum. I bring it into contemporary homes — honoring tradition while speaking a modern artistic language that resonates today.
Four crafts,
one vision.
My work spans four categories of Moroccan artisanship — each with its own technique, material, and story. Together they form a complete language for the contemporary home.

Authentic zellige and natural marble, handcrafted to add timeless elegance to kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces.

Handwoven Berber rugs and kilims, rich in tradition and story, bringing warmth and culture into your home.

Intricately crafted lamps and lanterns, casting mesmerizing patterns of light and shadow to create warmth.

Custom tables, cabinets, and décor accents blending Moroccan craftsmanship with modern design.
With each piece I create, I aim to honor tradition — while infusing a modern artistic language. The result? Functional art that feels timeless yet fresh.
Whether you’re drawn to the mosaic geometry of zellige, the warm textures of handwoven rugs, or the sculptural curves of lamps and furniture — my goal is to help you bring a piece of this tradition into your everyday life, tailored to your style.
A glimpse into
the making.
From curiosity
to craft.
Growing up in Morocco, surrounded by textures, colors, and the rhythm of artisan souks — drawn to pieces that carry history in every thread and tile.
Deep-diving into traditional Moroccan techniques — zellige geometry, brass-working, Berber weaving — studying with local masters in Marrakech’s medina.
Launching the brand online — not as a commercial venture, but as a way to share authentic Moroccan craft with homes around the world.
Expanding the collection, welcoming custom orders, and building a community that values the beauty and intention behind every handmade piece.
Let’s bring your
vision to life.
Every project starts with a conversation. Whether you’re looking for a custom piece, a bulk order, or simply want to know more about the craft — I’m here.
